Peoples assemblies (clubs, ‘societies’ or ‘councils’ /soviets/) spontaneously emerging from below as places for direct involvement of the people in public affairs are the moving force of all revolutions. But they are eliminated by the revolutionaries themselves when in power – either by just ‘forgetting’ to ‘let’ them ‘in’ the Constitution as in America or a bit more noisily by gunning them off by ship artillery in Russian Kronschtadt. Today the “Occupy” movement is trying to cover America with such assemblies and then gather their voice in Philadelphia to change the Constitution. Public power all over the world is still too unaccountable and concentrated in a bunch of people deeming themselves ‘masters of the World’. The excluded “atoms” have to connect for joint action if they want to make difference and get their public freedom. When is the gathering in your place?
